About my Yoga journey

My yoga journey started in the mid 1980's, I wore emerald green leggings with a black g-string leotard, pink lycra t- shirt, with a sweat band on each wrist and permed hair. The type of yoga I practiced was Hatha, there were many benefits to my flexibility, relaxation and inner peace, but this did not out weigh the competitiveness of twisting your body into a pretzel regardless of anatomy or physical ability and this is where my yoga journey paused.

Life continued and I tried to do all and be all to everyone until there was no more of me to give. Then my dearest friend insisted I try Dru yoga which she had been practicing for many years.  My first class was a 'life changer'. Dru yoga felt as if it had been tailored  just for me.  The drive home allowed time to reflect on how my body was feeling, I felt calm and at the same time this sensation felt foreign. That is the moment I fully understood the impact of modern living, on my mind, body and sprit, and I knew in my heart that I needed to do more Dru yoga.

As my time on the yoga mat continued I was surprised with the improvements to my health and well-being and  thus I decided to become a Dru Yoga Teacher.  As a practicing nurse I see on a daily basis the effects of a fast paced world on people; young and old, and I have often thought of how to build personal resilience in order to adapt to life's constant change.  Dru yoga has done this for me.  You are welcome to join me to see where this path may lead you.
